August 2005 - Yearsley Group's 50th Gala Dinner

Yearsley Group , the Frozen Food Sales, Cold Storage and Distribution Company celebrated their 50 th anniversary with a Black Tie Dinner at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton .

500 employees, customers and suppliers attended the function. They were treated to a sumptuous meal with a singer, magician and party band providing the entertainment into the early hours.

The company was started in 1955 by Harry & Isabella Yearsley selling fruit and vegetables from a base at Rochdale . Their sons Peter, Roger and John took the company into frozen food during the 70’s and built up the business. Today the Yearsley Group remains a family owned company and is a major player throughout the UK in the sale, storage and distribution of frozen foods.

In his speech, Managing Director Harry Yearsley (jnr) commented that, “When my grandparents set up this business 50 years ago they couldn’t have imagined how their company would look today. One of the highlights of the company was when HRH The Princess Royal opened our Seaham depot last year and I’m sure my grandparents would have laughed if we told them that their company would one day be visited by royalty”. He went on to “…thank all our guests for helping us to achieve this milestone in our history.”

Upon reaching 50 years in business Yearsley Group do not intend to rest on their laurels. Future plans include the building of additional depots at strategic locations. The Group is also keen to acquire other food businesses, including ambient and chilled, that can be sold across the already established nationwide distribution channel.
