Ashford in Kent is the location for an additional cold store opened by Yearsley Cold
Storage and Distribution.
Offering 5,000 pallet spaces for frozen storage Ashford is equipped with the latest
mechanical and handling equipment used at all Yearsley Group depots. Full computer
linkage provides complete product traceability across the company until delivery to
destination. NetStock, the on-line information system that allows clients to view and
control their stock and advise of dispatches and collections on-line continues to be
available throughout the company.
Commenting on the opening Harry Yearsley, Managing Director said, "Business in the
South has flourished since we opened the Gillingham cold store back in 2000. The high
service levels and the facilities we provide have ensured Gillingham has been running
at optimum for the last 12 months. Several of our current customers wanted more
storage space plus new clients were interested and of course we wanted to continue to
grow the business. So to ensure our high service levels remained uncompromised we
decided to open an additional depot and the location of Ashford was chosen."
Whilst still close to and ultimately managed by Gillingham, there will be dedicated
staff based at Ashford. The proximity to the Channel Tunnel also increases the
prospective for continental work. Harry Yearsley concluded, "Over the next 12-18
months our aim is to build an additional cold store in the South."
